Nearly all of the filming locations above are free to see, and most of the Upper East Side ones sit within walking distance of each other, so the addresses on this page are enough to plan your own day. If you would rather have a local guide tell the story at each stop, we run a guided Gossip Girl tour in New York that rides them in order. The Central Park spots are covered on the longest route, and we follow Carrie Bradshaw’s filming locations on a separate 90-minute ride.
Fan question
Chuck Bass and Blair Waldorf get married in Central Park. It happens in the series finale, “New York, I Love You XOXO” (season 6, episode 10): with the police closing in, the two of them stop pretending they need a grand society wedding and marry on the spot in the park, in a ceremony that lasts barely a minute. Chuck is arrested moments later. The scene was shot on location in Central Park, in the leafy paths at the southern end of the park just inside the Central Park South entrances — not on a studio set, and not at The Plaza, which is where Blair's abandoned royal wedding to Louis Grimaldi was staged earlier in the series.
Central Park is the show's emotional shortcut: it is where Chuck and Blair meet away from their families, where deals and confessions happen off the record, and where the Upper East Side stops performing for a moment. Marrying there instead of in a cathedral is the point of the scene — after six seasons of engagements, contracts and interrupted ceremonies, the pair finally choose the version of New York that belongs to them rather than to their parents.
The park entrances used in the finale sit a short ride from our meeting point in Midtown, so Central Park is part of the longer routes: the 2-hour Grand VIP Gossip Girl Tour rides through the park alongside the Midtown and Upper East Side filming locations, and the 3-hour Exclusive Gossip Girl Tour spends the most time inside it, including Bethesda Terrace. If you are choosing between routes, the tour comparison guide lays out which one reaches which locations.

Scene by scene
If you remember the scene but not the address, this section pairs them up: the moment you are picturing, the season and episode it comes from, and the real New York location it was shot at. Most sit within a short ride of each other between Midtown and the Upper East Side.
Season 1, Episode 1 — “Pilot”
The first shot of the series is Serena arriving back in New York at Grand Central Terminal, 89 E 42nd Street. The concourse is the real one, filmed early in the morning before commuter traffic, and it is still the easiest Gossip Girl location to reach from any subway line.
Recurring from Season 1 to the finale
Blair holds court on the staircase of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, 1000 Fifth Avenue at E 82nd Street — the steps are public and free, no ticket needed. Every scene shot there, in season and episode order, is broken down in our guide to the iconic Met steps scenes.
Season 1 onward
The van der Woodsen suite and the “Kiss on the Lips” fallout play out at the Palace on Madison Avenue at E 50th Street. Exteriors are the real hotel; the suites themselves were sets. It is one of the Midtown stops on the 2-hour Grand VIP tour.
Season 1 onward
The Waldorf residence exterior is a private pre-war building at 1136 Fifth Avenue, a few blocks up from the Met steps. It is a residence, so the scene is a street-level photo stop rather than a visit.
Season 1–2 school-year storylines
The uniforms-and-headbands scenes were filmed on the steps of the Museum of the City of New York, 1220 Fifth Avenue at E 103rd Street, which stands in for both schools. Read the background in our post on the Gossip Girl school.
Season 3 onward
Chuck’s hotel is the real Empire Hotel beside Lincoln Center at 44 W 63rd Street, complete with the rooftop bar used in later seasons. If you are planning where to sleep, our Gossip Girl hotels in NYC guide covers which ones you can actually book.
Season 1 through Season 6
Central Park carries the off-the-record conversations: Bethesda Terrace, the Mall and the paths near Central Park South recur across all six seasons. The park gets the most time on the 3-hour Exclusive tour.
Season 6, Episode 10 — “New York, I Love You XOXO”
With the police closing in, the wedding happens on the spot in the park’s southern end, minutes before Chuck is arrested — not at The Plaza, where Blair’s abandoned royal wedding to Louis was staged earlier.
Season 1 onward
Dan and Jenny’s side of the story sits across the river in DUMBO, near Water Street under the Manhattan Bridge. Read the location detail in our post on the Dan Humphrey house.
All six seasons
Most apartment and school interiors were built at Silvercup Studios in Long Island City, Queens. Everything you recognise from the street — steps, hotels, park, storefronts — was filmed on location in Manhattan, which is why a route through the Upper East Side and Midtown covers so much of the show in one afternoon.
If you would rather see the scenes cued up in order than build the route yourself, our local guides do exactly that on a guided Gossip Girl tour in New York.
Our local New York guides take you to the real filming locations of the Upper East Side — The Met Steps, the Empire Hotel, Ladurée and Central Park.
